Inside this gatefold sleeve there's a picture of a man on a tractor. That must be Anssi 8000. He's from the middle of nowhere in Finland. We are also told that this recording is "Extra Fine One Man Orchestra! Super Sound Beat Rock Hi-Fi". Kyklops is one mini LP and Svesse is the other, all brought together on this fabulous package.

That's enough introduction stuff. The songs that make up Kyklops and Svesse are raw sounding indeed; to be honest you could just dismiss them as short lo-fi work outs but that would be very, very unfair. In fact this double mini-LP set is fabulous; messy, noisy, truculent and very much authentic lo-fi rock. I do enjoy the introduction in Spanish on Kyklops and the following track, Squirrel Song which effectively sets the pace and tone for the double LP with its driving rhythm and slashing guitar runs. A noisy and messy affair, then. There are at times stylistic similarities to Beck; such as Styrofoam Home, but in the main it's stripped down shed-rock of the highest quality. And despite the fact it is difficult to write about at length, it is highly recommended.
