A Virtual Landslide is a marvellous LP; full of vim, vigour and Righteous Traditional Sounds. And a hell of a voice. Molinari’s vocals really tip the scales for me; his performance on tracks like I Don’t Like the Man I Am and Sweet Louise has to be heard to be believed. On the whole this is a quiet LP; the Lonnie Donnegan-style opener It Came out of the Wilderness with its holler and shuddering, shuffling beat is actually a bit misleading.

Torch songs seem to be Molinari’s strong suit. Oh So Lonesome for You and God Damn Lonesome Blues really grab the heartstrings. There’s also a definite touch of the BobDylans about this LP, maybe it’s the grainy voice, maybe it’s the personal slant of the lyrics, maybe it’s the feeling that Molinari wants to tell his listeners what’s on his mind. Or maybe it’s the ‘60s style sleeve artwork.

Anyway; don’t mind my musings. It’s something you should really check out.
