There was a time in the 1990’s when trip hop ruled the world. You couldn’t go anywhere, or switch on TV, without hearing William Orbit, Tricky or Portishead. In fact, Portishead’s Dummy and Air’s Moon Safari were the standard soundtrack to a decade’s worth of dinner parties and Sunday morning hangovers (and in some cases still are). Science For Girls is now trying to claim that position in your record collection. The good thing is, it’ll probably work.

If you need an excuse to be lazy on a weekend, here it is delivered to you in a shiny little compact disc. Why get up when you can soothe your hangover with something cool, relaxed and completely inoffensive? This album is so laid back, so chilled out, that I suspect it may lull you into avoiding every single Saturday and Sunday morning for the rest of the year. And for this type of music, that’s high praise indeed. It’s the type of thing you’ll hear some ponsy DJ with bad fake tan spinning in wine bars and chic hangouts the world over. Cool, calm and totally inoffensive, this could take over the world if we’re not careful.
