Mangled Limbs has the semblance of a tune – led by a sad female vocal – but it’s still crushed like a block of refill underneath the blurping beats and synth smears.
A great 4 track EP and no mistake guvnor. Serious Idiots “showcases” an astonishing array of sounds… clicks bangs, and voices, and there are more thumps than a fight scene in the Beano. With the title track a droll male voice starts going on about society today, and the disadvantages flares in the 1960s, as somehow the "song" manages to drag itself noisily and messily through its short troubled life to a conclusion. Following that, Mangled Limbs has the semblance of a tune – led by a sad female vocal – but it’s still crushed like a block of refill underneath the blurping beats and synth smears. Fuq England Up continues this brutal recycling process a bit further, sounding like the last spool run of a giant tape cassette recorder (the size of Luton) that just won’t go off and die quietly. And for our “afters”, we get Methalated, which sounds for all the world like a battle between some Gore band and a rogue gaming machine. Suddenly someone pulls the plug out and there’s a merciful silence.
Fucking remarkable, I really, really like this EP.
