The Tyde – Three’s Co. (Konkurrent)

There is not much I can say about this album.  It is good, decently substantial American surf-arage indie rock, but more like gimmicky kiddie indie pop rock with quirky twists and fun surf instrumentation and back up vocals from the same veins as Pavement, Weezer or Apples In Stereo.  Songs that stuck are Brock Landers, Too Many Kims, Ltd. Appeal, County Line and The Pilot.  I think Ltd. Appeal is my favourite track out of all of them because it feels the least forced lyrically and musically.

You’ll find yourself nodding your head along nearly instantly. It’s quite good and damn commercial, for this reason it’s worth checking out, but honestly nothing really stayed with me.  Though catchy, I wasn’t humming any of these pop songs a few hours later.  Apparently this is the 3rd release from this California, LA based surf and skate troupe.  There first release was called Once, the second was Twice.  This one is called Three’s Co (company, like the TV show?) is not quite enough of a gimmick for me to listening to it again for a laugh and it is not innovative, nor classic enough to warrant much more either.
