Taxi Taxi! Are two sisters, Miriam and Johanna E. Berhan, from Stockholm, Sweden and they could very well turn out to be this year’s CocoRosie. This is a stunning EP. Musically it’s very sparse, a few simple piano chords here, a gentle acoustic guitar pluck there, with the occasional dash of harmonica thrown in for colour, but not to worry, Taxi Taxi are all about the vocals. Great harmonies and haunting vocal performances (think early Bjork) abound and at times it sounds like it was recorded in a tunnel, with echo swirling around the girls at all times. Slightly surreal and utterly hypnotic, Taxi Taxi are more than worthy of your attention. Take a listen and let them haunt your dreams forever.
