Brandon Flowers fronting Interpol. That would be the lazy music journo way to describe this. Siberian have created an album filled with clinical, razor sharp guitars, pounding drum beats and moaning, yearning vocals. If you’re a fan of Interpol, or The Killers, you’ll probably find a lot here to keep you interested. If you don’t like either of those bands, then you may as well walk away now. They fit right in with Editors too.

Ok, is there anybody left reading this?

I’m sorry, I don’t want to rain on their parade too much as there’s actually a lot here to like. Lyrically they’re pretty sound, and they have one of the best song titles I’ve seen in a long time, Belgian Beer and Catholic Girls. Sadly the song itself doesn’t quite live up to that. It’s good, don’t get me wrong, but it falls of short of being something great and I suppose that sums the album up as a whole, to be honest. There’s a lot of good stuff here, but it’s not quite energetic enough to make you jump up and down or epic enough to really take your breath away. It won’t make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end, but it may get you tapping your feet from time to time. Ultimately, there’s a lot of potential here, but you’ve simply got to ask yourself this – Is that enough?
