God, what is it with this lot? I know now and again I’m given to the odd hyperbolic statement, but really the Julie Mittens are psychic Rock Heroes of the first water. Ascending spiritual and psychotic paths not really touched since Amon Duul 2’s Marylin Monroe Memorial Church, April, June is a classic, brooding free rock shake-down that – despite it’s inherently loose structure – keeps the listener hooked all the way through.

Maybe the fact that April, June isn’t really divisible in terms of traditional rock time and space allows the listener to give the never-ending nature of the sound more of a chance… To put it another way this record doesn’t really have a start or an end, and whether that’s down to the fact that there’s no discernable A or B side, or whether the continuous and mercurial groove allows you to transport a little  isn’t that obvious to me as yet. Nevermind. I suppose the repetitive nature of the cover image should give the game away…

It’s issued on vinyl only and there are 300 copies, of which I have one… If you like your rock free and out there, I’d go and find this without delay.
