The Boy Least Likely To -The Best Party Ever

(Too Young To Die)

First released over a year ago, this album somehow slipped through my fingertips.  Just now finally stumbling across it I’m left with an honest sense of joy (and rosy cheeks) and I owe it all to this splendid duo from the village of Wendover in Buckinghamshire, England. The Best Party Ever is a sweet, eccentric, catchy, quirky indie folk-pop debut album and I guarantee that it will do wonders for helping the winter doldrums pass.

Bands that I think would go on a great afternoon mix tape with The Boy Least Likely To include Beulah, Beck, Sea and Cake, Blur, Eels, Animal Collective and Belle & Sebastian. They write triumphantly uplifting and kitschy songs filled with all sorts of wonderful little fun instruments, toys, handclaps and melodies. It’s magical music that happy frolicking children might make.

Song highlights are Be Gentle With Me, Monsters; (“This town is filled of Monsters, who are, making out with, other monsters”), Sleeping With a Gun Under My Pillow, Hugging My Grudge, My Tiger My Heart; (“We are trying to be friends, but it hard sometimes, To friends with something that eats butterflies, and pencil sharpenings…”)

There really isn’t much more I can say.  I love this album. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Go ahead and just try to resist singing along to it, I dare you! It’s brilliantly simple and I highly recommend it!
