Hell yeah! This LP is a blast! It never lets up right from the first strutting chords on Jackie Lake. It’s a shame it’s only about half an hour in duration, because I could listen to this kind of pumped up, chaotic blues all day. It’s a riot. 10 AM is a gloriously groggy, confused rant about money, jail & booze, (I think), whereas Crazy Tonight is a jittery Beefheart-ian rumble. What an opening set of tracks.

Another really cool thing about this LP are the song titles; it’s as if having a great LP title wasn’t enough; hell no. What about Bog, Worst Baby, Sweetest Weirdo and Nogales Rose? Magnificent. Sweetest Weirdo is the first moment of relative quiet on Drunkards Dog and it’s a very affecting track. Still we don’t have much time to get too sentimental as Owed is a woozy holler set over the slackest and loudest of strumming that ever could be. Worst Baby follows suit in a demented manner (albeit pausing to draw breath now and again) whereas Sonni is a stumbling paean with some big riffs.

Elsewhere Nogales Rose is reminiscent of Bob Pollard (I dunno why) whereas Let ‘Em Roll is a woozy work out in the grand tradition.

It is tremendous, splendid stuff.
