Do Arcade Fire sing for the dead? Well, not exactly. A quick look at the lyrics reveals a very narrow set of topics/themes but none, until the final track, that actually come directly to terms with death.
“
Last up is “Brush/Throat”, sounding like a Tibetan monastery field recording, (the monks blowing those big trumpet contraptions, the name of which, for the moment, escapes me) but accompanied by an idiot on kazoo.
The album didn’t sell well and I can’t imagine that the ridiculous title helped any.
Oh, one more thing; the cover’s a new romantic belter, with the two lads wearing futuristic swim suits at Dundee’s local swimming baths.
I blew my entire Incendiary stipend on a skeleton which used to belong to Who bassist, John Entwhistle.
