Well, how are you all doing? We’re just dandy, thanks for asking! Doubtless you are aware that spring has sprung and the festival season is upon us in Holland. The precursor of this is the extravaganza that is Motel Mozaique in Rotterdam from the 13th to the 16th of April and the excellent Toon festival; in Haarlem, from the 4th to the 9th April.
Motel Mozaique boasts the following acts; Sickoakes, The Cardigans, Isobel Campbell, CocoRosie, Coldcut, 65daysofstatic, We Are Scientists, The Beautiful New Born Children, Maurice Meewissen, Sorry, do the Tour!, Simone Aughterlony and lots more.
Toon is as always a wee bit different; this year we have workshops galore in Haarlem‘s newly refurbished Patronaat and sets from the legendary Faust, Tony Conrad, and Sonic Boom. Those three names should have you booking tickets in a trice. In addition there is Magnetophone, Aux88 and Gravenhurst; so that additional list should have you drooling surely.
By the time you read this the first London Calling of the year will be come & gone; Fear not! A review will appear in our May edition!
Anyway, you will have noticed that, cussed as ever, we have articles on Les Pattinson, legendary bass player from Echo & the Bunnymen and an impassioned defence of housewives’ favourite, David Gray. Centre stage must go to the insane interview with Adam Green. Do try to read it kids!
