IN: Your music is (to this editor’s ears) sprawling, very expressionist. Is this fair? Daz dwarf: Errr yeah…I suppose that’s a fair summary of our moosick. We do try and keep a lot of subtle spaces in our moosick though… as it changes all the time and we don’t like to treat our listeners like idiots. They can use their brains and can bring their own interpretation to the thing… there is a lot going on. We’re a bit Spinal Tap… where they could go “1 louder” we like to go “1 weirder”!!! ha ha. IN: I mean, you make no secret of liking bands like Can & the Residents… Pray elaborate further?

…yeah I like those bands…but that’s just me…we are all individuals…and like and have played in many different types of bands form Jazz, bluegrass, Folk and Soul to Hard rock and Country ‘n Western… so we could all pick our faves… possibly we agree more on what we don’t like, which is a lot ha ha!!!At the moment I’m currently “grooving” to Tim Buckley, Soft Machine, Van Der Graff Generator, Popol Vuh, Rain Parade, Chrome and the Stooges…but will probably hate them as well by this time next week LOL ha ha!!! IN: Tell us about this musical, dwarfish vision that is so dear to you. What is it about? You mention multimedia happenings. Explain this too, please!

Well…I would like to say that the main reason for the “BIG dwarf” thing is that we align ourselves with the Geeks, misfits, freaks…the little bloke…square pegs in round holes can’t and won’t fit in kinda person…this is where the tradition of the best “art” come from… there’s to many jobsworths these days!!! ha ha. The idea of standing tall and proud even though you’re made to feel small!!!But perhaps, it was either the name BIG dwarf or the other possible option was “the Owls” ( and there was no way I was gonna be in a band called the Owls)
The dwarf image is that we are actually all dwarfs (though some are bigger than others)…and we thought we would “hide” behind various pictures of dwarfs because we want to be considered for our moosick…and you know…if they saw us they might mistake us for a boy-band…we’re real “eye candy” ha ha LoL!!!
The muti-media thing??? Well… we’ve just finished making some short films/videos which were hopefully gonna expand on in the future. Plus all our gigs are “happenings”…I mean last week we played half way up the side of a mountain to a load of hippies…just so we would be prepared if we ever got called on to do such a thing again ha ha !!!
IN: Your plans for the future, if I may be so bold to ask…

At the moment were getting a lot of attention from record companies and A/R people in this Country and from abroad…plus were becoming quite a cult band in the States with radio play and magazine reviews etc… We’ve probably got the same prospects of most bands…play gigs, make records…make no money…become ill with beer and drugs… break up and reform LoL ha ha…. …but I suppose in the long term…being as were BIG dwarf…we just need to grow up LoL Ha hA …hope this is ok…Cheers Daz ;p
