Sadly there aren’t too many records that sound like Aztec Camera being made these days, either. Yet Two Doors Down sounds like the love-child of Martin Fry and Roddy Frame.
Along the way there are touches of late era Talk Talk and Pink Floyd and then some John Coltrane-style jazz. It really is as odd as it sounds. It is also magnificent.

Sadly the quote by Robert Walser that adorns the back-page of the lyric booklet is peculiarly adroit: ‘There’s something missing when I don’t hear music, and when I do, then there’s really something missing.’
Partway through the album Cahoone sings the line ‘It’s gotta get better than this’. Sadly the prophecy isn’t born out.
