An astonishing piece, brooding, thick and sensual, Side A sees the gradual build-up of sonic pressure by virtue of some rich, compressed mid tones that sound like an old church organ and a nagging electronic buzz which flits in and out like a wind-up mosquito. The organ sound becomes magisterial and distorted and is joined by some reedy synths and what sounds like a basketball being dropped on a gym floor (it won’t be, let’s just say it’s a random beat). This beat gets more and more assertive and the textures become rich and sensual again, creating a vast and beating pulse of sound that is in danger of enveloping the listener.
Side B starts off as a more sinister affair, a buzz starts to appear under a thick “carpet” of dry, scratchy mid tones, only to disappear and be replaced by a blurping synth melody of the most basic kind. Strange bird like noises appear at intervals along with more growling, throbbing synths and pattering beats. And although the result is more alienating than Side A, the results are just as powerful.
