As to the recording’s sound, well its not a million miles away from Kluster’s Zwei Oesterrei or Cluster 2, or Tony Conrad and Faust’s collaboration.

White Lichens – White Lichens
There’s some heavy shit written in the booklet that accompanies this LP; stuff about Bael/Belial/Belaal/Baal and other spirits of the ancient world. This should give you some idea as to the nature of the music; well that and the fact that there are two whoppers in Cijmejes, or Cimeies or Kimaris and Bael (of 19 and 17 minutes length respectively). Yep, its pretty pagan.
As to the recording’s sound, well its not a million miles away from Kluster’s Zwei Oesterrei or Cluster 2, or Tony Conrad and Faust’s collaboration. Or a very stoned early Guru Guru. This of course means I like it very much indeed. For those readers not content to allow me to sit back and scatter references at the expense of bloody well getting down and describing the record, then let me say that it is an fabulously organic, feedback-drenched observation; utilising very sluggish and slothful white noise, perhaps the sound of an old hoover slowly dying. Now and again we get a piano note or two to give some direction.
Elsewhere there is a primordial calm on display; meditative outer space-isms creating a somewhat menacing whole. Its unchanging nature means it’s a surprisingly swift listen, in that you stick it on, allow it to wash over you and then find the bloody thing is finished before you know it.
I like it a lot and I suggest you give it a listen if you’re feeling suitably ancient.
Well, you did ask.
