A very rewarding listen, especially if you’re feeling a wee bit melancholy. The mood is set by the gloriously lush opening track Treehouse; there are hints of Radiohead’s existentialist meanderings swamped in that lush guitar sound. And the vocal style doesn’t half sound like Tom Chaplin "doing a Thom Yorke" at the local karaoke… The piano informs a lot of the music, maybe gives it that melancholy edge (check out Pale Horse). Things go a bit quiet in the middle section of the LP – I find it all a bit too lush and Nordic to be honest (Sea Monsters is a good example) – but perk up in glorious style with Mother Tongue, possibly the best song on here.

It’s a nice LP to waste an hour or so to.
