Poste E Telegrafi is an interesting, slightly somnolent set of guitar-led instrumentals; sometimes sounding like a drugged Hank Marvin and sometimes veering off into Krautrock territory. Semi Tosta di Cielo is an early highlight with a Spaghetti Western style guitar lick dovetailing with a tinny, Cluster-esque synth beat. Sometimes it sounds very much a Michael Rother solo record what with all the clean, harmonious licks; Fiori Campionati is a good example of this. Elsewhere Poste E Telegrafi Blues momentarily ups the ante with a juddering work out that reminds me of a very lo-fi Can. The LP highlight is Whales Cemetery which is a spooky, glistening five minutes with barely a tempo change in sight.
A very interesting release, highly recommended.
