I can imagine this LP slipping under the radar of many. It shouldn’t.

A cracking LP, packed with that precious commodity; good songs. At first the laughing and bottle clicking on Happy Today nearly had me wrenching the CD out of the player… (a serious sod like me can’t handle attempts at recording bacchanalia at any time of night). Once you get past the first track though, things pick up considerably. There are some clever chord changes on Bird Flies High for instance, which give these essentially simple songs a powerful added punch.
Sonically it’s traditional harmonies and muted guitar all the way, but to be honest, there’s more than enough going on in the dynamics of each track to keep you interested. The band is incredibly adept at setting up a song’s mood and character, whilst allowing clever chord or atmospheric changes to keep you guessing. Twist in the End, the brilliant When I Die and He Wanders are great examples of this.
