The Show is the Rainbow – Wet Fist

I’ve always liked Darren Keen’s attitude and brand of self-assurance and his stuff is a lot of fun, for sure. While Wet Fist isn’t really bringing anything that hasn’t been done before to the spazzcore party, stuff like Roar Means Run and Come Dry Your Flower are bloody enjoyable slabs of slacker attitude made music. You do get the feeling (as I do with all these kind of white boy mix-n-match, artists, Beck included) that the music is immeasurably better when experienced live. Yes, it’s a fun, enjoyably unfocused LP, brimming with intelligence and verve. There are times when I wish he’d throw a killer tune into all the glitch-core, mind, just to give the LP a focal point or two.
