Samara Lubelski – Parallel Suns

Another beautiful folk release is Parallel Suns, brimful of soft, beguiling music, even though opener Have you Seen the Colours is a spit for the Quo’s Pictures of Matchstick Men at times.

Another beautiful folk release is Parallel Suns, brimful of soft, beguiling music, even though opener Have you Seen the Colours is a spit for the Quo’s Pictures of Matchstick Men at times. Still there’s plenty to enjoy here if you’re feeling dreamy. Rarely do the vocals lift above an intimate whisper, normally content to augment a very sympathetic set of arrangements.

There’s a feeling of some of the pastoral moments on Kosmische releases such as Lord Krishna von Golowka, or Tarot, or even Witthuser and Westrupp’s stuff; though obviously not the drug induced ranting… Listen to the beautiful Snowy Meadows II for proof. As such it’s a nice mix of High European folk and winsome, bohemian East Coast psychedelia.

I’d seriously recommend this CD if you’re feeling ethereal.
