Not what you’d expect from the band’s name; (well it’s one fella, known to his mother as Henrik Jonsson). This LP is a pleasing collection of synth dribbles, sighs and blurps; soothing but never boring and definitely commercial; (the beautiful blue sky feel of tracks like En Ny Morgon could easily sit on, say, Moby’s ambient Hotel LP). And I challenge anyone not to love the beautiful I Love Riding My Bicycle or My Week in Zambia.
Things change stylistically now and again. The high gloss of Havet är Ärlight is bordering on the melodramatic (for an instrumental), whilst Spectrum Campfire and That’s Roadrageous (surely a re-work of a Miwon track) starts to drift into Eno territory. Not that that is ever a bad thing. Every now and again we get something a little darker; Den Kalla Handen and Cave 4b-50 Clicks Northwest add grist to the sonic mill without getting too deviant. Simply put, Cluster is the outer perimeter, but not that that has ever been a bad thing, either.
Nice, pleasantly diverting ambient music.
