Six tracks; brimful of youthful enterprise, clean guitar hooks and licks and youthful hollering. Alright, it sounds like every other record in this genre, but there’s something about tinny surf-guitar spirals I like, especially as this particular EP is somehow trying to span a gap between such unlikely bedfellows as Dick Dale and Bloc Party. Is that possible?
So it’s a bit poppy, so what, opener Headin’ Inside is great raucous fun, and sets the pace for what sounds like a mix of Ceremony and Altered Images’ Happy Birthday. This obsession with ardently strummed tinny guitar riffs continues throughout. It’s a bit like the Family Cat on 78rpm.
But hey, I liked the Family Cat a lot, and I like this. It’s positive, fun music to dance and enjoy yourself to.
