Charalambides – Likeness

“At sixty-nine minutes in total length, and with several songs lasting over five minutes, the listener has to invest a lot. Patience and perseverance will be rewarded with the discovery of an excellent album.”

Chatham Country Line – IV

On an individual basis the tracks are lovely. Gentle melodies and expert, yet warm, musicianship abounds. Across a whole album the effect is unfortunately somewhat soporific.

Anti-Atlas – Between Two/ Between Voices

The album looks beyond the narrow confines of ambient electonica towards great Romantic composers such as Mahler, Dvorak and Holst. Unfortunately these tracks never achieve anything like the grandeur or emotional connection that lies at the heart of these composers’ works.

Peter Grummich Plays Staubgold – Dinner Music for Clubbers

Structure and Cosmetics- The Brunettes

“

Indian Jewelry – We Are the Wild Beast/Free Gold

“There are some very, very clever people at work here; I command you to read the sleeve notes on both releases, especially Ted Sands’ witty missive on the latest LP Free Gold!”

Klangwart – Stadtandfluss

“

What is it with German releases at the moment? There’s something going on, for sure. With labels like Morr, Staubgold, Karaoke Kalk and Monika really coming up trumps of late, maybe it’s time to be celebrating a new wave of Kraut-Musik. I’m hoping so.
